Getting connected

OBS Deck says it cannot reach OBS

In OBS, open Tools → WebSocket Server Settings and make sure Enable WebSocket server is ticked and applied. Your device and the computer running OBS must be on the same network, or the host you entered must be reachable from the device. On macOS, allow incoming connections for OBS if the firewall asks.

The quickest setup is Show Connect Info in that OBS dialog and scanning its QR code from Setup → OBS Connection.

Authentication failed

The password does not match the one in OBS's WebSocket Server Settings. Scan the connect code again, or copy the password from OBS. OBS Deck stops retrying after a wrong password until you change the settings or tap Connect.

The Apple Watch shows "No network route to OBS"

The watch's own Wi‑Fi cannot reach the OBS computer: it is on a different network, or the watch is on cellular. Join the same Wi‑Fi, or turn off Use watch Wi‑Fi in the watch's Connection screen to route through the iPhone. Taps are relayed through the iPhone whenever the watch cannot reach OBS itself.

Can I use a secure (wss) connection?

Yes. Choose wss under the password field, or paste a full wss:// URL into the host field. The certificate must be one your device trusts; a self-signed certificate works only after its root is installed and trusted on the device.

Decks and tiles

How many tiles can a deck have?

From 1 to 32, with 2 to 6 per row. The Apple Watch always shows two per row and up to eight at a time; a larger deck becomes several pages there.

How do I move a tile?

In the deck editor, press and hold a tile in the preview, then drag it to another slot.

What does a fader tile do?

Hold it and slide up or down to set the input's volume; tap it to mute. On the watch, a tap opens a Digital Crown fader.

Lock Screen, widgets and Siri

The Live Activity stays on the Lock Screen

It ends when you tap Disconnect, when you turn Lock Screen controls off, or after the time you choose under Setup → Live Activity → Remove when disconnected. You can also swipe it away like any Live Activity.

The Home Screen widget's buttons do nothing

The widget opens its own short connection to OBS, so OBS must be reachable from the device at that moment and the connection must have been saved in the app once. Check Setup → OBS Connection.

Which Siri phrases work?

"Toggle recording in OBS Deck", "Toggle streaming in OBS Deck", "Start recording in OBS Deck", "Stop recording in OBS Deck", "Switch scene in OBS Deck", "Run tile name in OBS Deck" and "Switch to profile name in OBS Deck". The same actions appear in the Shortcuts app and can be assigned to the Apple Watch Ultra Action button.

Backups and profiles

What is in a backup?

Every profile with its connection host, decks, status colours and Live Activity controls. Passwords are never included; they stay in the keychain and sync through iCloud Keychain.

Can I restore a backup on another device?

Yes. Backups live in your iCloud Drive and appear in Setup → Backup & Restore on every device signed in to the same iCloud account. Exported files can be opened from Mail or Files on any device with OBS Deck installed.

What is a profile?

Everything for one OBS: its connection, decks, status colours and Live Activity controls. Keep one per computer or per setup and switch between them from Setup, the watch or Siri.
